Delivery Truck Driver

Title: Truck Driver   Reporting to: Shipping Manager    Location: 167 Industrial Drive, Borden-Carleton, PE

Compensation package: $25/hr to $30/hr, Overtime starts at 44 hrs per week, Group Benefits (Life, AD&D, Health, Dental), Meal Allowances, 2% DPSP plan, Company cellphone provided, Credit card provided, Hotel Accommodations

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Safely and efficiently operate automatic straight trucks and tractor-trailers to transport goods and materials to various destinations in Atlantic Canada and the State of Maine
  • Safely handle glass and rearrange racks with the shipping clerks as needed
  • Be conscious of delicate product being delivered (Racks of Glass) and chose your routes and unloading methods accordingly
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and forklift to ensure both are in good working condition
  • Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment, such as forklifts, ensuring proper handling and securing of the load
  • Follow all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while on the road
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and any incidents or accidents that occur during transportation
  • Ensure delivery slips are signed by customers and appropriate copies left and returned with you back to the plant
  • Always inquire about empty racks left with customers and return these with you as appropriate
  • Communicate effectively with shipping manager, customers, and other team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues that may arise

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license
  • Proficiency in operating a forklift for loading and unloading cargo
  • Knowledge of freight transportation regulations and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Equipment: Freightliner straight trucks, International Tractors, Loadmac and Moffett Forklifts
  • Shipping clerks available to accompany on runs depending on volume and weather
  • Monday to Friday. Most customer locations open 8am-5pm to receive deliveries. Routes to be split between drivers each week to ensure you’re home in your own bed at least 2 of 4 nights per week:

    • Borden to Summerside and Charlottetown – Daily Run
    • Borden to Bathurst – Daily Run
    • Borden to Halifax – Daily Run
    • 2-day Cape Breton Run
    • 2-day Southern NS Run
    • 2-day Northern NB/Peninsula Run
    • 2-day Maine Run
    • 2-3 day NB Run (Sussex, Saint John, St. Stepen’s, Fredericton, Woodstock, Edmundston, Return)
