Job Description:
The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient handling, storage, and transportation of goods and materials. This position plays a critical role in maintaining smooth operations within the supply chain by ensuring timely and accurate movement of materials. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and unload shipments to verify the accuracy of orders.
- Pick, pack, and stage materials for distribution or production.
- Safely operate material-handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Organize, label, and store materials in designated areas to optimize warehouse space.
- Perform inventory checks and maintain accurate stock records.
- Ensure materials are stored in compliance with company policies and safety standards.
- Operate company vehicles (e.g., box trucks, vans) to transport materials to and from designated locations.
- Plan routes and schedules for efficient deliveries or pickups.
- Inspect vehicles regularly to ensure safety and report maintenance issues.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations during handling, storage, and transportation activities.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow hazard communication protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the warehouse and vehicles.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials as required.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet operational goals.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries and pickups.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or driving roles preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL may be required depending on the vehicle type).
- Proficient in operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment (certification preferred).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Basic math and computer skills for inventory tracking.
