Job Description:

The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient handling, storage, and transportation of goods and materials. This position plays a critical role in maintaining smooth operations within the supply chain by ensuring timely and accurate movement of materials. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, and unload shipments to verify the accuracy of orders.
  • Pick, pack, and stage materials for distribution or production.
  • Safely operate material-handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
  • Organize, label, and store materials in designated areas to optimize warehouse space.
  • Perform inventory checks and maintain accurate stock records.
  • Ensure materials are stored in compliance with company policies and safety standards.
  • Operate company vehicles (e.g., box trucks, vans) to transport materials to and from designated locations.
  • Plan routes and schedules for efficient deliveries or pickups.
  • Inspect vehicles regularly to ensure safety and report maintenance issues.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations during handling, storage, and transportation activities.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow hazard communication protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the warehouse and vehicles.
  • Assist in loading and unloading materials as required.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet operational goals.
  • Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries and pickups.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or driving roles preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL may be required depending on the vehicle type).
  • Proficient in operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment (certification preferred).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Basic math and computer skills for inventory tracking.
