Job Description:

The Federation of PEI Municipalities (FPEIM) is hiring a post-secondary student as a communications assistant for up to 14 weeks this summer. The student will work with the communications and member services officer to highlight the success stories of municipalities, promote the programs and research available through FPEIM, and help raise awareness of municipal issues.

The ideal applicant will have at least one year completed of a program related to communications, journalism, graphic arts, or photography and videography; interest in municipal government; strong interpersonal skills; and some knowledge of effective social media use.  The candidate must be returning to full-time post-secondary education in the fall.

Specific job activities could include the following:

  • Create social media content, including graphics and video.
  • Record municipal leaders speaking about municipal issues or initiatives.
  • Photograph/video municipal leaders and municipalities to share stories of municipal initiatives, successes, and/or issues.
  • Use interview material to create video clips, reels, and other social media material.
  • Assist with updating the information and visuals on the FPEIM website.
  • Offer suggestions on organizational messaging and storytelling.
  • Complete day-to-day office duties as required.
