Job Description:

The Clean team members will enjoy a summer, outside, in Downtown Charlottetown with excellent learning opportunities. A chance to really understand and take pride in our City. You will meet many business owners which will be helpful in the future as you seek your next job.  You will meet, greet and answer questions for tourist and visitors to our downtown. A summer job and a great experience. Uniform shirt and Jackets will be provided.

Position Summary:

Working with Downtown Charlottetown Inc. and reporting to the Director of Operations, the Clean Team Members will create and maintain a clean, welcoming and safe environment for the Downtown Charlottetown core area Municipality residents, visitors and tourists. The Clean Team Members will work cooperatively to maintain streets and sidewalks, remove graffiti, paint public realm items, and assist with poster removal and kiosk duties as required, within the defined area of the Downtown Charlottetown Inc. While working at assigned tasks, the Clean Team Members will appear tidy, project a positive image of the Downtown Charlottetown Businesses, and will provide information and assistance to the residents, visitors, and tourists in a friendly helpful fashion.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Ø  Team Member is responsible for assessing situations, identifying problems and implementing solutions
Ø  Interacting with Tourists to help with directions and general information about the City.
Ø  Communicate with and make yourself known to property and business owners on the street.
Ø  Sweeping up all forms of litter and garbage on sidewalks, curbs and gutters throughout the Downtown
Ø  Dispose of litter and garbage in predetermined dumpsters located throughout the Downtown area
Ø  Attend to key areas of high visibility, particularly during high-traffic events, and activities held Downtown (i.e.: festivals, concerts, parades, outdoor activities);
Ø  Report to the Director of Operations any damaged or worn-looking banners, flower baskets, planter boxes, benches, bike racks, litter bins, newspaper boxes, mailboxes, buildings, all necessary attention to kiosks and any irregularities on the streets – burned out lights, cracks in sidewalks, loose bricks, broken trees, graffiti
Ø  Responsible for painting of street amenities such as bike racks, street benches, sign posts, tree wells and decorative lamp posts
Ø  Remove posters, handbills and flyers from lampposts and other surfaces within Downtown area
Ø  Graffiti removal with both paint and spray chemical remover.
Ø  Assist with summer events coordinated by the Downtown Charlottetown Inc.
Ø  Other duties as required.

Applicants must haven attended school in spring of 2024 and be returning in fall of 2024.
