Job Description:

The Construction Association of PEI is a long-standing Association with over 300 members in the  Construction Industry here on PEI. CAPEI has an immediate opening for an Office Administrator, located in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The ideal candidate is an energetic individual that is able to assist management and all visitors to the association in a polite and professional manner.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Communicating important information regarding the industry to members of CAPEI
  • Creating announcements/ invitations for events
  • Creating a weekly newsletter
  • Answering incoming calls; taking messages and re-directing calls as required
  • Check and verify source documents such as invoices, and receipts
  • Allocate and post financial transaction details to subsidiary books
  • Transfer data to general ledger
  • Reconcile and balance all accounts
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Prepare checks, payments and bank deposits
  • Prepare and process payroll
  • Issuing CCDC’s (Canadian Construction Documents Committee)
  • Monitoring tenders of PEI Projects
  • Managing member CAPEI & CINet accounts
  • Handling the printing services offered by CAPEI
  • Other office duties as requested

The successful candidate for this position would have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma with a concentration in Business Administration (experience plus a related post-secondary credential will be considered)
  • Strong background in Simply Accounting
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping practices
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Working knowledge of relevant computer applications
  • Experience within the construction industry would be an asset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a multi-task environment
  • Own transportation
