Job Description:
The Construction Association of PEI represents over 330 companies, and aims to foster, promote, and advance the interests and efficiency of PEI’s construction sector.
CAPEI is currently looking to expand their team by hiring a Human Resource Advisor. This individual will be responsible for addressing the recruitment needs of the construction industry on PEI. The successful candidate will consult with industry partners to address their unique talent acquisition needs, and promote careers in the construction industry to various stakeholder groups. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing CAPEI social media pages, and creating marketing material to advance the interests of the Association, and the industry at large.
The candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Consulting with association members to identify their strategic hiring needs.
- Preparing ready-to-use job descriptions for construction occupations that employers can use to create job advertisements or job descriptions.
- Providing advice and support to association members on recruitment methods and tools, including Islandbuilder.ca, WorkPEI, and other online resources.
- Creating WorkPEI postings for association members, and screening applicant resumes.
- Provide career development/coaching advice to job seekers looking to enter the construction industry. This incudes helping job seekers create professional resumes and cover letters.
- Attending job fairs and other events to promote career opportunities in construction, and the services provided by CAPEI.
- Create and manage all CAPEI social media content.
- Attending schools, groups, and programs with CAPEI’s virtual reality training headsets (training will be provided).
- Delivering presentations to a wide variety of audiences.
- Use Canva and other design applications to create marketing and advertising material.
- Responsible for external communication to various stakeholder groups, and overall public relations.
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications and previous experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma considered a strong asset.
- Post-secondary education in human resource management, marketing, business administration, or communications is considered an asset.
- Previous experience consulting employers on recruitment and retention practices considered an asset.
- Previous experience working within the construction industry is considered an asset.
- Previous experience using software applications, including Canva, to create marketing material.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be comfortable speaking in front of a wide variety of audiences.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a multi-talk environment.
- Must hold a valid drivers license and have access to a reliable form of transportation.
