Residential Support Worker

Job Description:

Community Connections Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides a range of employment, residential, and support services to adult persons with disabilities. The purpose of the organization is to work with persons with disabilities and their families; to assist individuals to develop to their full potential; to support them to access and use community resources; and to empower them to contribute and participate in a meaningful way within their community. Responsibilities and Duties include:

• Promote and maintain the vision, mission and policies of Community Connections Inc. and the people it supports;
• Support clients with cognitive and/or physical challenges in a community based independent living environment;
• Maintain and promote the wellbeing, uniqueness and independence of each client;
• Provide physical care, medication administration, and day-to-day house management;
• Fulfill the health, safety and personal care requirements for each client;
• Assist clients with all aspects of daily living, including but not limited to personal care, transportation, accessing the community and financial support as needed;
• Prepare nutritional meals as per site specific guidelines;
• Complete and maintain required documentation;
• Collaborate with Community Support Workers.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a College diploma in Human Services, Youth Worker, or RCW/LPN;
• Previous experience working with individuals with cognitive and/or physical challenges or previous experience in a human service setting serving vulnerable populations would be considered an asset;
• Valid CPR and First Aid Certificates (must be maintained during employment);
• Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle during working hours (must be maintained during employment);
• A team player with excellent attendance;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
