Receiver / Material Handler

Job Description:

This person is responsible for receiving and counting all inventory into the POS system and helping to provide inventory spot checks to aid in loss prevention. All employees must work in a manner that reflects our goal to offer ‘the best customer service experience in PEI’.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Counting and receiving all product into the Point of Sale system;
• Processing purchase orders as required;
• Processing “Home”/Direct orders;
• Processing and following up on claims to companies for defective or damaged inventory on a timely basis;
• Arranging return of non-stock special order items to suppliers for credit;
• Performing cycle counts of inventory in different departments when required;
• Recognizing outdated, damaged or unsaleable merchandise and reporting it to the Assistant Store Manager so proper measures can be taken to clear them out;
• Ensure that storage warehouses are kept organized and clean;
• Maintaining confidentiality of store and customer records, inventory;
• Attending meetings/training as required;
• Assisting other departments as needed;
• Recognizing over-stocked merchandise and working with the Assistant Store Manager and Floor Manager to correct the issue;
• Other duties as assigned by Management.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Valid PEI drivers license and clean driving abstract;
• Be able to obtain a forklift certification;
• Self-motivated/able to work independently;
• Professional, friendly and helpful attitude at all times;
• Attention to detail;
• Willingness to learn;
• Ability to work cooperatively with other departments as needed;
• Ability to work at a steady pace;
• Adherence to safety policies as outlined in the employee handbook;
• Familiar with basic computer programs;
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays when required;
• Able to visually verify the contents of a shipment;
• Able to lift/move up to 100 lbs, bending, standing;
• High school graduation or equivalent.
