Maintenance Technician (Red Seal) – Permanent Full-time Position

Amalgamated Dairies Limited (ADL) is a producer-owned, independent cooperative with dairy processing plants and a retail food distribution facility spread throughout PEI. For over 70 years, we have processed fresh milk from PEI farms to produce premium dairy products, including milk, cheese, cream, butter, and canned milk. Position Overview: 

We’re seeking a skilled Red Seal Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this dynamic role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems, ensuring safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll also manage projects, coordinate with contractors, and handle inventory. Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and repair production systems, participate in construction projects, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Respond to equipment failures and call-ins, perform after-hours and weekend repairs.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance, coordinate with departments, and order necessary parts.
  • Promote and ensure safety standards and stay current with safety policies.
  • Plan and execute projects with management, schedule contractors, and oversee project implementation.
  • Schedule and direct contractors and technicians, obtain estimates for large jobs.
  • Order, receive, and manage parts inventory, and process invoices.
  • Perform and document calibrations according to standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of plant areas, including snow removal and yard cleanup.
  • Participate in initiatives to enhance efficiency and suggest system upgrades.
  • Provide operational and safety training for employees as required.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and promptly.

Requirements:

  • Red Seal certification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) or an Industrial Electrician.
  • Experience in inspecting, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and policies.
  • Project planning and execution skills.
  • Ability to manage parts inventory and process invoices.
  • Proficiency in equipment calibration and documentation.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with PLC ladder logic.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
