Job Description:

The Grant Writer will be part of a team responsible for the ongoing success of BGC Prince County by ensuring quality and innovative programs are being offered to children and youth. This is done by coordinating planning and organizing programs, seeking funding opportunities and preparing funding proposals. This role will work in collaboration with leaders from both our Program and Finance teams.

I. Program Planning

The goal is to assist staff in creating and implementing Club programs and ensure established programs are being run in accordance with BGC Canada Operating Standards.

This will be achieved by:

  • Designing programs that ensure inclusion of various recreation and sport activities;
  • Develop programs based on funding received;
  • Creating an evaluation framework to evaluate program activities to achieve successful outcomes,
  • Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets and presentations.
  • Creating an evaluation framework to evaluate program activities to achieve successful outcomes, including mid-term and post program evaluations and feedback from parents and Club members;
  • Planning the delivery of all summer, evening and licensed programs and their activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the Club;
  • Developing program binders with age-appropriate activities for each group;
  • Developing new initiatives to support the strategic direction of BGC Prince County;
  • Create forms and records to document program activities.

II. Program Funding

The overall goal is to research funding opportunities, write proposals and apply for grants that will support the programming offered by the Club.

This will be achieved by:

  • Developing and writing grant proposals to foundation and other grant-making organizations;
  • Communication with clients and stakeholders to gain community support for the program and to solicit input to improve the program;
  • Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets and presentations;
  • Communicate with funders as outlined in funding agreements.

III. Administration

  • Ensure BGC Operating Standards are being adhered to within department;
  • Program reporting and grants reporting;
  • Attend program training calls and meetings;

IV. Additional Duties and Requirements

  • Special projects and other responsibilities as determinded by your supervisor;
  • Work closely with community groups as needed;
  • Promote and advertise the Club to the community at large, eg., open house, school events
  • Willingness to work;
  • Good decision making abilities;
  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner ability to implement policies and procedures;
  • Ability to show initiative within programs;
  • Other duties are required but not stated.

V. Qualifications

  • Experience in fund development/grant writing;
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed.
