Job Description:

POSITION SYNOPSIS

The Electrician Apprentice supports AKA’s Journeyman Electricians in the maintenance, operation, and repairing of electrical systems. They assist with and perform installation and maintenance tasks to ensure the effective operation of various electrical equipment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist a journeyman electrician and follow instructions
  • Prepare and clean work areas
  • Carry and deliver materials
  • Install, repair, and maintain various electrical wiring systems and equipment
  • Use measuring equipment and hand tools to perform conduit work
  • Follow safety codes and building regulations
  • Complete payroll time sheets and mileage reimbursement and submit to office administrator as determined.
  • Special projects and other responsibilities as may be determined.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Completion of electrician training program preferred
  • Able to diagnose problems using electronic test equipment
  • Knowledge of NEC electrical codes

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Assist a journeyman electrician and follow instructions
  • Prepare and clean work areas
  • Carry and deliver materials
  • Practical experience working with electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Use measuring equipment and hand tools to perform conduit work
  • Follow safety codes and building regulations
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently
  • A willingness to learn and work overtime when required.
