CBDC Central PEI
Business Description
CBDC Central PEI is a member of the Community Business Development Corporation, a network of 41 independent, not-for-profit organizations that work in cooperation with all government and private sectors to achieve our mandate. The East Prince office was established in 1990 with the mandate to offer supports in the creation and expansion of small and medium-sized businesses. Its service area covers the central region of Prince Edward Island, excluding Charlottetown, Cornwall and Stratford. This central region ranges from Canoe Cove to West Covehead, going west to Tyne Valley (Northam Road) and all rural communities in between.
To achieve this goal, we provide new and existing entrepreneurs tools to ensure their stability and growth through financial, technical assistance, and counseling services. Financial aid is available through 6 programs: Youth Loan, First Time Entrepreneur Loan, General Business Loan, Social Enterprise Loan, Innovation Loan, and urban financing through the Impact Program (East Prince office only). Simultaneously, technical assistance more commonly takes the following forms: business plan guidance, counseling, training, workshops, and support in connecting clients to other funding sources.
Our mandate is:
• Stimulate private sector employment within our region by providing small to
medium-sized businesses with financial assistance, business counselling,
support, and training access.
• Encourage and support economic growth, diversification, job creation and
maintenance, and encourage sustainable, self-reliant communities in our region.
• Provide programs and services that build on our past successes and take
advantage of new opportunities.
