Wheatley River Improvement Group Inc.
Business Description
The Wheatley River Improvement Group (WRIG) was formed in 1999, and incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 2004. We are a high capacity Group led by an elected Board of Directors that includes farmers, business owners and other local residents. WRIG is dedicated to protection and management of The Wheatley River, Cymbria, Crooked Creek, Chapel Creek, Oyster Bed Bridge, Hornes Creek and Lukes Creek Watersheds under the framework of a community based watershed management plan. In addition to our ongoing habitat and stream restoration and enhancement projects, we actively pursue community involvement and awareness. The core of WRIG's mandate is to protect the environment, by taking actions that support our Stewardship Plan to promote a rich diversity of aquatic and terrestrial plants and wildlife, where farmers and fishers are able to make a living for generations to come and where all residents have access to clean healthy water.
