River Restoration Technician – Student

The SEA River Restoration Technician will be responsible for watershed monitoring, surveying, and restoration of rivers in the SEA Management Region. This is an 8-week, JFY summer student position with the Southeast Environmental Association.  To apply, applicants  must have been registered in full-time studies in 2021 and intend to return to school in the fall 2021. This position is primarily fieldwork-based: Duties include, but are not limited to: • work alongside the SEA field crew to assist in making improvements to fish habitat; • conduct site assessments to certify a habitat, or to ascertain environmental damage and/or restoration needs; • conduct riparian assessments, crossing assessments to determine restoration needs and outline source materials/labour needed to begin restoration activity; • carry out on-the-ground enhancement activities such as clearing blockages, brushmat installation, tree & shrub planting, removal of debris/garbage from waterways and riparian areas, and clearing trails, etc.; •  taking photographic data, and other information collected for final reporting; • use scientific and field equipment to assess, measure, collect and record data while in the field; • other duties as required by the organization.

Museum Guide – Interpreter

The employee will be welcoming visitors to the Museum, informing them on the Museum’s services and exhibits.  They will also be doing tours of the exhibits on occasion, participating in the organizing of special activities, and looking after the gift shop.  They will be looking after the opening and closing of the Museum, as well as answering any questions visitors have concerning services and activities in the area. They must be available to work every second weekend and will also assist in the cleaning and disinfecting of high-traffic areas. We are a Non-Profit organization based in the rural community of St. Teresa, 25 miles east of Charlottetown. We developed a memorial garden in the year 2000 to celebrate the new millennium. We’re looking for a post-secondary student to work in the garden for the spring and summer months. The duties of this job would include: maintaining the grounds in a weed free condition; pruning shrubs for optimal growth; creating a site plan of the current plants in the garden; recommending new plant species to add to the garden; and proposing ideas to engage community volunteers. Program Delivery Coordinator

The Program Delivery Coordinator will assist with the production of weekly ceilidhs and other rental activities in the performance hall. This will include, but not be limited to, acting as the frontline contact for current and future rentals, scheduling of the activity rooms, promoting ceilidhs and other activities through traditional and social media, and setting up the venue. They will also be assisting with the circulating library and conducting research with regards to the organization’s 200th anniversary in 2025.
