Job Description:

We are looking for a Journeyman Carpenter, with 5+ years carpentry experience, who will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures in commercial buildings such as office spaces, retail stores, hospitals, and warehouses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine material requirements and project specifications.
  • Build, install, and repair frameworks, partitions, doors, windows, drywall, and ceilings in commercial buildings.
  • Work with various materials such as wood, steel, concrete, and drywall to create structures.
  • Install commercial fixtures such as cabinetry, countertops, and shelving.
  • Construct and assemble temporary structures, such as scaffolding and bracing.
  • Operate hand and power tools including saws, drills, and nail guns, safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and project deadlines.
  • Collaborate with foreman, project managers, architects, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
  • Mentoring Apprentice Carpenters.
  • Inspect and repair damaged structures and ensure safety and quality in the completed work.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas on job sites, ensuring tools and materials are stored correctly.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in carpentry or construction is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a carpenter in commercial construction (7200 – 10800 hours).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical plans, and drawings.
  • Proficiency in using carpentry tools and equipment, including hand tools and power tools.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with other trades and supervisors.
  • Basic math skills for accurate measurements and calculations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Red Seal certification in carpentry or a related trade.
  • Experience in metal stud framing, drywall hanging, and finish carpentry in commercial environments.
  • Knowledge of concrete formwork and structural framing.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift heavy materials (50 lbs or more) regularly.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in various environments, including heights, tight spaces, and outdoor conditions.

We Offer:

  • Full-time work; hours may vary based on project deadlines and site conditions.
  • Typical 44 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
