Job Description:

The Trial Supervisor would oversee and manage the execution of trials for vegetables, herbs, and flowers, ensuring proper planting, tending, and evaluation of different varieties while also analyzing data and communicating findings to relevant stakeholders.
Major Accountabilities
Trial Management:
- Plan and implement trials of vegetables, herbs, and flowers, including selecting suitable varieties, determining optimal planting schedules, and effectively managing resources.
- Supervise, coordinate, and work with staff involved in the trials.
- Ensure the proper planting, tending, and maintenance of trial plots, including tasks such as weeding, pest control, and irrigation.
Data Collection and Analysis:
- Collect and record data on various aspects of vegetable growth and development, including yield, flavour, and quality traits.
- Analyze data to identify trends and patterns and draw conclusions about the performance of different vegetable varieties.
Communication and Reporting:
- Communicate trial findings to relevant stakeholders, including researchers, growers, and seed companies.
- Prepare reports and presentations that summarize trial results.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other researchers, extension agents, and industry partners to enhance vegetable production and utilization.
Other Duties:
- May be involved in other research activities related to vegetable crops.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in vegetable production and trials.

Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of plant physiology, pathology, and entomology, along with experience in data analysis, collection and reporting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success.
- Knowledge of vegetables, herbs and flowers.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze large amounts of information and data collection.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in various weather conditions and to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as agronomy, horticulture, or plant science.
Experience:
- Experience in vegetable production, research, or trials is highly desirable.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
