THE OPPORTUNITY:
STEAM PEI is hiring Summer Camp Leaders and Summer Camp Facilitators to develop and deliver summer day camps across PEI.

About the Role:

  • Duration: May 20 to August 30.
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
  • Themes: Camps cover topics like Art in STEM, Stop Motion Animation, and STEM in Sport.
  • Training: May and June focus on training and delivering in-school STEAM experiences.
  • Travel:
    • Travel will be compensated, except for commutes to:
    • STEAM PEI’s home base at 141 Mount Edward Road, Charlottetown, PE C1A 5T1.
    • Regular camp locations at Holland College in Charlottetown or Summerside.
    • In some cases, accommodations may be provided.

Compensation:

  • $18.00 – $20.00/hour for post-secondary STEM students with relevant experience.
  • Hours: Average of 37.5 hours/week.

THE SKILLS:
If working with:

  • 6-year-olds and robots,
  • 8-year-olds launching bottle rockets, or
  • 12-year-olds creating stop-motion animations

sounds like a dream job, then you’re going to have a BLAST!

Must-Haves:

  • Clean criminal record check.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Ability to ensure public health guidelines are followed.
  • Strong skills in managing and engaging groups of up to 20 students.
  • Quick adaptability to dynamic situations.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Familiarity with STEM concepts is ideal.
  • Willingness to learn new tools and technologies to stay on the cutting edge.
  • Experience with block-based coding (e.g., Scratch, MakeCode) and robotics (e.g., Dash/Dot,
    Sphero, micro:bit, Makey Makey) is an asset.
  • French Summer Camp Position:
    • Fluency in French is required for this role, as you’ll lead camps entirely in French.
