Job Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY:
STEAM PEI is seeking a motivated and creative Social Media Specialist to join our team for the summer.
You’ll play a key role in developing and executing social media strategies that align with our mission and
goals. This includes creating engaging content, optimizing company pages, and fostering community
interaction.

This full-time role runs from June 23 to August 30, with an average of 37.5 hours per week. Hours are
flexible, but we’d love for you to visit our camps and spend time in the Makerspace to capture live-action
shots.

Compensation is $18-20/hour for post-secondary students. If you’ve been to a STEAM PEI camp before,
let us know—this could be the next step in your STEAM journey! You’ll be mentored by a team of STEAM professionals and work alongside an amazing group of post-secondary students. Most importantly, you’ll help grow the STEAM community on PEI while lighting up those Likes and Shares!

THE SKILLS:

We want to see what you’ve got! Share examples of your content to showcase your skills. Experience with Canva and Adobe software (e.g., Photoshop, Premiere Pro) is a big plus.

Strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and proper grammar are essential—after all, we can’t have an educational organization posting content with spelling mistakes!

Bonus points if you’re fluent in French so we can post in both official languages.

A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are not mandatory but would be an asset. Travel is compensated at the current provincial government mileage rate.

An interest in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) would also be nice. We value curiosity and a willingness to learn as we strive to stay on the cutting edge.

At STEAM PEI, we celebrate diverse perspectives, including diversity of people, knowledge, and cultures. We’re committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment where everyone feels accepted and valued. Experience working with BIPOC and/or gender-diverse students is a bonus.

ABOUT US:
STEAM PEI is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring young Islanders to explore learning and
careers in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math). Our mission is to foster curiosity
and confidence through hands-on, experiential learning opportunities.

We are excited to announce that we will soon be located at 141 Mount Edward Road, Charlottetown, PE
C1A 5T1, where we will continue to deliver impactful programs. Our efforts focus on reaching youth across PEI, with particular emphasis on under-represented groups, including girls, Indigenous youth, and youth from low socio-economic backgrounds.
