Job Description:

Position Title: SEAM Activities Facilitator

Location: Prince County, Prince Edward Island (Site to be confirmed at later date).
Duration: May 20th – August 22nd
Reports To: SEAM Coordinator, SEAM Hub Supervisor, and ResourceAbilities’ Employment Services Manager
Salary: $22.00 per hour at 37.5 hours per week (Position is pending on funding approval).

Position Overview:

The SEAM Activities Facilitator will serve as a peer mentor and facilitator for daily activities, while also supervising and supporting SEAM youth participants (ages 15-18, returning to high school in the fall of 2025). The SEAM Activities’ Facilitator will collaborate closely with the project team to ensure a successful program, focusing on personal development, employability skills, life skills, and soft skills. The role involves mentorship, training delivery, participant engagement, and project management, with a focus on youth development and career exploration.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Orientation:
Work with the SEAM Coordinator, SEAM Hub Supervisor, and ResourceAbilities’ Employment Services Manager to learn the program, including its history, goals, objectives, and expected outcomes.
Participate in a 1-week staff training, including ASIST or Mental Health First Aid (training provided within the SEAM budget).

May 20th – June 23rd (Preparation Phase)

Collaboration & Planning:

  • Collaborate with high schools, justice, and social assistance organizations to compile a list of potential participants.
  • Conduct participant interviews as required.

Worksite & Policies Development:

  • Assist in setting up the classroom site, including internet/computer usage rules, cell phone usage policy, and safety precautions (PPE).
  • Develop an orientation package for participants, including permission slips, rules, and expectations.
  • Design a work contract for each participant outlining roles, responsibilities, and timelines.

June 30th – August 15th (Active Program Phase)

Youth Engagement & Mentorship:

  • Onboard participants and assess their digital literacy levels.
  • Deliver training on digital literacy, internet safety, and social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Mentor participants in personal development, job search skills, interview skills, resume building, budgeting, stress management, and teamwork.
  • Teach participants about online safety, passwords, identity theft, phishing, and scams.
  • Support participants in their work plans, ensuring they develop the necessary skills and behaviors for success.

Workshops & Training Delivery:

  • Teach employability and life skills, focusing on soft skills like communication, punctuality, and self-motivation.
  • Project Management & Support:
  • Mentor participants on teamwork and demonstrate effective project management.
  • Collaborate with participants to plan a celebration day to highlight the summer program’s achievements.

August 18th – August 22nd (Wrap-Up Phase)

Final Report & Program Evaluation:

  • Assist the SEAM Coordinator in compiling a final report based on program outcomes.
  • Clean and store project supplies and materials.
  • Meet with sponsors to ensure all budget expenses are documented.

Skills and Qualifications:

Required:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience working with youth or in a mentoring capacity.
  • Knowledge of digital literacy, social media platforms, and online safety.
  • Ability to work in a team and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working with diverse populations, including those from high schools, justice, and social assistance backgrounds.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience, understanding, and empathy with youth.
  • SEAM Activities Facilitator is required to have a driver’s license and ability to drive in Prince County.
  • Will also be required to provide a Criminal Record Check.

Preferred:

  • Experience with personal development, employability skills training, or related fields.
  • Certification in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) or Mental Health First Aid (training provided if necessary).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience with budgeting and financial literacy training.

Working Conditions:

Location:  SEAM Program will take part in Prince County (location to be determined)
SEAM Activities Facilitator is required to have a driver’s license and ability to drive in Prince County.
Physical Requirements: Ability to assist with light physical activities related to project setup, participant orientation, and team-building exercises.
