What we offer:

Get hands-on experience with museum programming and customer service engagement at this unique historic site within a provincial park! At the Green Park Shipbuilding Museum and Yeo House, visitors experience the story of Prince Edward Island’s shipbuilding industry and experience what life was like on the Island in the 1860s.

The successful candidate will be an outgoing, positive individual who is excited to engage with the public through guided tours of the Shipbuilding Museum and Historic Yeo House, demonstrations of historic crafts and practices (training to be provided), and the interpretation of the history of the shipbuilding era on PEI. At this job, you will develop skills in public speaking, historical interpretation, customer service, artifact care and handling, storytelling, and hands-on crafts and activities.

The successful candidate will also assist with delivering education programs to school groups and planning special events. Some programs will be delivered in 19th-century costumes. Tours include both the traditional historic narrative of the site and the more theatrical ghost tour of the Yeo House. To be successful in this position, it is necessary to have an interest in history and an excitement for interacting with people.

The following will be considered assets, but are not required:

  • Theatrical training, musical aptitude/training, arts and crafts skills and experience
  • Knowledge of PEI history or general history
  • French language skills.

Other Requirements:

Means of transport to reach the site is a must as there is no public transportation.
