Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The En Fil Club (Girl’s Club) Coordinator will work with Indigenous youth living off-reserve on Prince Edward Island to increase their self-protection skills and knowledge regarding sexual abuse or prevention concepts. The En Fil Club project aims to provide a safe space for Indigenous girls to gather and engage in cultural activities to develop the capacity for dialogue and education about sexual exploitation, as well as to provide a possible avenue for those seeking help.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize and facilitate group workshops or activities aimed at integrating cultural teachings and education on the 3 R’s of safe practices (Recognize, Respect, Rights), different phases and forms of sexual exploitation, how to avoid and/or exit unhealthy and harmful situations, and how to build healthy relationships.
- Actively reach out to members of the Indigenous community with the goal of increasing program participation and engagement.
- Work with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to incorporate appropriate cultural teachings into events and activities.
- Represent NCPEI on committees, working groups, boards, advisory groups, etc. as required.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with community partner organizations and government entities.
- Work with established community partner organizations.
- Provide detailed activity reports after each event and committee meetings as well as monthly and annual reporting.
