Golf Mania PEI – Sales Associate
Position: Golf Store Sales Associate
Department: Retail & Club Repair
Reports To: Golf Mania PEI Manager
Wage: $18-$20
Job Summary: The Golf Mania PEI Sales Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, assisting customers with purchasing golf-related merchandise, and performing basic club repair and regripping services. This role involves maintaining product knowledge, offering expert advice on golf equipment and apparel, and ensuring the store is clean, organized, and welcoming.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Service:
- Greet and engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Assist customers in selecting golf equipment, apparel, footwear, and accessories based on their needs and preferences.
- Provide expert advice on club fitting, shaft selection, and other golf equipment specifications.
- Promote and sell store merchandise, loyalty programs, and special promotions.
- Handle customer inquiries, returns, and exchanges efficiently and professionally.
Club Repair & Regripping:
- Perform basic club repairs, including regripping, re-shafting, and adjusting club heads.
- Inspect and evaluate customer clubs for potential repairs or replacements.
- Ensure proper handling and care of customer equipment during repair services.
- Maintain and clean all tools and equipment used for club repairs.
Merchandising & Inventory:
- Assist in stocking and organizing shelves, racks, and displays.
- Ensure merchandise is properly tagged, priced, and displayed.
- Participate in regular inventory counts and assist with restocking as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized sales floor, fitting rooms, and checkout area.
Operations & Cash Handling:
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently.
- Process sales transactions, returns, and exchanges.
- Handle cash, credit card, and other payment methods responsibly.
- Follow store policies and procedures related to cash handling and security.
Qualifications:
- Previous retail experience, preferably in a golf or sporting goods environment.
- Basic knowledge of golf equipment, club repair, and regripping techniques.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lift and carry golf bags and equipment (up to 40 lbs).
- Proficiency with POS systems and basic computer skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with golf club fitting and customization.
- Experience with golf simulators or launch monitors is a plus.
- Passion for golf and willingness to stay updated on the latest industry trends.
Work Environment:
- Retail store environment with occasional exposure to golf course or outdoor demo events.
- May require weekend, evening, and holiday availability.
