Maintenance Tech – 4th Class Power Engineer

Are you a self-motivated team player? Our Maintenance Technicians work hard to keep all components of the production facility and its production equipment well maintained and in good working order. In addition, our technicians with Power Engineering qualifications ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of the organization’s boiler units through regular operational activities, maintenance, and inspection.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Maintain all types of equipment through a preventative maintenance program and log all details into a CMMS database. (Limble).
  • Read, interpret, and follow instructions and operation manuals.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Read blueprints and sketches proficiently to fabricate equipment and make modifications.
  • Repair or replace chains; belt conveyors; gear boxes/drive chains; hydraulics & pneumatics; welding/cutting; and using power tools.
  • Maintain HVAC systems, water softener systems, chiller units and other utilities.
  • Prioritize safety in approach to all work activities.
  • Focus on Continuous Improvement to streamline work processes.
  • Perform all other maintenance duties as required.
  • Ensure the proper operation and functioning of the organization’s boilers and related equipment to provide a safe, healthy and comfortable working environment.
  • Perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on boilers and related machinery.
  • Maintain a logbook of daily activities such as operations, maintenance, test results, instrument or computer interface readings and equipment malfunctions.
  • Adjust controls and valves on equipment or computer terminal to regulate boiler operations.
  • As a shift engineer, responsible to conduct required activities outlined in section 22 of the PEI Power Engineers Act Regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess 4th class Stationary Engineer Certification as a minimum qualification.
  • Experience in a large-scale GMP, meat or food manufacturing or processing environment is preferred.
  • Willingness to work set shift schedule including nights, weekends and overtime as required.
  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective gear.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience with electrical, HVAC and chiller systems would be considered an asset.

  • Must have authorization to work in Canada

This position requires the ability to:

  • Stoop, reach, kneel or crouch
  • Experience exposure to moving mechanical parts
  • Experience exposure to excessive noise and some hazardous materials.
  • Lift 25+ pounds overhead
  • Turn, bend, reach, pull, and walk
  • Stand for extended periods of time; up to 12 hours
