Job Description:
PEI Connectors is an initiative of the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce that helps newcomer entrepreneurs succeed in business in PEI, and job seekers (professionally-trained interprovincial and international newcomers, and recent domestic and international post-secondary graduates) develop professional networks that connect them to the local labor market.
The program is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Program Officer in Charlottetown office. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week), commencing immediately until March 31, 2026, with possible extension after April 1, 2026 depending on funding and work performance.
The Program Officer will be responsible for helping immigrant entrepreneurs successfully implement business plans, and helping job seekers develop professional networks that enable them to progress toward their career goals.
Duties include:
- Review business plans (for entrepreneurs) and career objectives (for job seekers)
- Provide practical guidance to entrepreneur and job seeker clients
- Connect clients to members of the local business/employer community
- Drive awareness of business development supports and programs, and employment opportunities
- Organize activities and events
The successful candidate should meet the following qualifications:
- Familiar with the local business community (business owners/employers, organizations that support/promote business development and careers development supports, etc.)
- Strong entrepreneurial skills for entrepreneur clients, and abundant experience/knowledge for job seeker clients
- Ability to work well with newcomer individuals and immigrant communities in PEI
- Proficient at Microsoft Office
- Comfortable using databases
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Projects confidence in business settings and when presenting to audiences of all sizes
- Organized and results-oriented
- Multitasking skills to meet deadlines
- Works well on their own and as part of a team
- Access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
A relevant post-secondary education would be considered an asset. Experience in serving immigrants is also counted as equivalence.
