Double Hill Cidery is an award-winning, craft-focused cidery rooted in Prince Edward Island. We combine old-world cider-making traditions with North American creativity to create expressive, high-quality ciders.
Position Overview
We seek a passionate and reliable Assistant Cider Maker to join our production team. This hands-on role involves all aspects of cider making—from pressing apples and fermentation to packaging and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about fermentation, comfortable with physical labor, and eager to grow their skills in the craft beverage industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in all stages of cider production: fruit processing, fermentation management, racking, blending, filtering, and packaging
- Clean and sanitize tanks, hoses, kegs, and other equipment following standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Operate and maintain cider-making equipment, including pumps, presses, filters, and bottling/canning lines
- Monitor fermentations, record data, and assist with lab analysis when required
- Follow safety and cleanliness protocols to maintain a safe work environment
- Load/unload and organize materials, such as apples, packaging supplies, and cleaning chemicals
- Assist with quality control and sensory evaluation
- Support seasonal tasks such as harvest prep and orchard work (if applicable)
Qualifications
- Experience in fermentation, brewing, winemaking, or related field is a plus but not required
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
- Mechanically inclined with a willingness to learn new equipment and systems
- Team-oriented with good communication skills
- Passion for cider, craft beverages, and local agriculture
Bonus Skills (Not Required)
- Basic lab skills (pH, Brix, etc.)
- Knowledge of apples or orchard practices
- Experience in a commercial kitchen, winery, or brewery setting
