The Information Data Analyst role is to strategically develop and maintain information infrastructures to support decision making from numerous existing applications including new and existing databases and data warehouses to meet the immediate and long-term information needs of the PEI Government.

Duties will include but are not limited to: 

  • Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for Bl development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders by investigating business and technology trends, and aligning Bl initiatives with government business needs;
  • Lead the integration efforts for merging Bl platforms with enterprise systems and applications;
  • Design, code, test, and document all new or modified Bl systems, applications, and programs;
  • Develop the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions;
  • Develop graphs and portal interfaces;
  • Employ complex statistical analysis methods and techniques (e.g. descriptive, inferential) to transform raw data into relevant and timely information designed to aid government managers and leaders in tactical, operational and strategic decision-making processes;
  • Devise, develop, and deploy required data queries in response to business user needs;
  • In conjunction with data owners and department managers, develop data models and protocols for mining production databases;
  • Direct, organize, and lead projects in the implementation and use of new Bl software tools and systems;
  • Other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science with extensive experience in IT field, considerable experience in the business intelligence and/or data mining/analysis environment OR diploma in Business Information Technology or Information Management with extensive experience in IT field in a business intelligence and/or data mining/analysis environment;
  • Demonstrated equivalencies may be considered;
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Experience working in a team environment;
  • Experience in managing projects;
  • Sound knowledge of: Data Warehouses and Data Marts, Online Analytical Processing (OLAP), Advanced Structured Query Language (SQL); data mining and analysis tools;
  • Sound understanding of: statistical analysis techniques and practices; the concepts of data warehousing, data mining and analysis; relational database management system concepts; and how to elicit and interpret user requirements;
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Candidate must have initiative and ability to work without supervision as well as a strong desire to learn;
  • Applicants must have a good previous work and attendance record;
  • The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check prior to beginning employment.

Other Qualifications:

Experience in programming and/or working with databases in Oracle, MySQL, or D82 would be considered an asset.
