Job Description:

Position Synopsis

As part of AKA’s service team, the Electrical Systems Integrator will participate in development, testing, and life cycle support of AKA’s electrical systems and components as well as third party systems. This position requires the ability to travel locally and internationally. Field deployments range from 2-8 weeks on average with an overall field deployment time of approximately 26 weeks per year. Remaining time will be at our Pooles Corner Facility.

Position Responsibilities

  • Interfacing with customers to gather and interpret details of reported system issues.  Remotely diagnose and address or refer for service visit.
  • Maintain and repair installed systems in various operational environments.
  • Install and test design upgrades.
  • Recording and maintaining detailed work logs and service reports.
  • Developing and updating systems supporting documentation, including system descriptions, test procedures, maintenance and troubleshooting manuals.
  • Supporting project engineering activities such as type testing, factory acceptance testing, and production of electrical systems.
  • Supporting onsite project activities such as installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Developing and configure infrastructure to enable and support testing of electrical systems for research and development projects.
  • Providing assistance and training to other service team members on the installation and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Continuously improve aptitude and understanding of AKA systems and devices.

Position Requirements Education &; Experience

  • Technical diploma related to electrical discipline and/or Electrician certification with maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
  • 2-5 years field experience with industrial automation and control systems, or systems integration.
  • Experience in the design, development and implementation of electrical power systems and/or control and automation systems considered an asset.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining marine power and propulsion systems considered an asset.
  • Experience commissioning and troubleshooting VFD systems considered an asset.

Knowledge and skills

  • Safety focused.
  • Proven analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Ability to analyze systems engineering and automation problems and devise innovative solutions.
  • Understanding of industrial control devices such as PLCs, drives, protection relays, HMIs, etc.
  • Understanding of power generation, management, distribution, and conversion systems.
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols.
  • Proficient at learning new computer applications.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and across multiple project teams.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse workload while prioritizing time and resources to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and customer relation skills.
  • Proficient at the intermediate level in the use of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.
