Coastal Culture Inc. operates resort retail stores from Victoria BC to Charlottetown PEI operating under the store names Coastal Culture, Cool As A Moose, and Sea House. Our warehouses in Canmore, AB and Cornwall, PE house our large product offering, with our Cornwall location housing our garment processing area, allowing us to create unique items for our customers.

The Perfect Candidate:

  • Must be computer knowledgeable and willing to learn to be proficient in various software programs.
  • Secondary school certificate and must also pass basic math and spelling tests (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing)
  • 1-2 years of full-time Embroidery and/or sewing experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Positive attitude, reliable, and a great work ethic
  • Ability to lift to 25 pounds
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and works well independently and with others
  • Reliable team member who genuinely cares about their work and team
  • The ideal candidate must be able to review specs and either embroider or apply heat transfers to apparel as required.
  • Repetitive tasks, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, a combination of sitting, standing, walking for extended periods.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work and operate multi-head embroidery machines
  • Able to read, analyze, understand and follow specification before starting each embroidery order
  • Able to hoop shirts, hoodies, polos, hats and more for embroidery machines
  • Trouble shoot multiple types of common errors including broken threads, bobbin errors, etc.
  • Obtain work orders from supervisors to determine the type and design of embroidered logos
  • Select the right materials to perform embroidery on
  • Calibrate and set up embroidery machines at the beginning of each shift to ensure that it works.
  • Select and verify the right colour of threads for an embroidery design
  • Perform both preventative and regular maintenance on embroidery machines to ensure that they remain in good working order
  • Coach and train junior staff and help build a fun and rewarding team environment
  • Operating embroidery machines efficiently and safely
  • Patrol machines and check fabric or products for defects
  • Verify efficient machine operations
  • Repair minor mechanical issues such as broken or defective needle
  • Notify supervisor of mechanical malfunctions
  • Ability to meet production quotas in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to transition computer designs to machine output
  • Maintain an organized, clean and professional work environment and assist with packing, shipping and other warehouse duties as necessary
