The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) helps to build safe and healthy workplaces in PEI and supports workers with benefits and services to reduce the impact of work-related injuries.
Reporting to the Manager, Claim Processing and Adjudication, the Claims and Compensation Administrative Support position provides office administration support to the Claims and Compensation Division.
This position facilitates proactive and efficient claim adjudication, claim management, and service to employers by administering scheduling of impairment assessments, expedited services, independent medical exams, functional capacity evaluations and off island treatment process. The incumbent provides general administrative support to the Director, Managers and Supervisors, Board Medical Advisor, contracted advisors and assessors, and other divisional staff as appropriate.
The incumbent provides reception services for the organization and support the Claims and Compensation Division staff by meeting the administrative needs of clients and stakeholders at the reception desk.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Providing reception services to the organization.
- Answers, routes, or responds to all incoming calls to the main telephone line.
- Greets clients and stakeholders at the reception desk, answers queries and provides general information and contacts relevant staff for more detailed client and stakeholder needs.
- Administers the impairment assessment process, as required.
- Arranges appointments for impairment assessments, confirms by contacting clients and forwards appointment letters.
- Provides administrative support to the divisional Director, Managers, Supervisor, Service Quality Coordinator, Board Medical Advisor, contracted advisors and assessors and other divisional staff.
- Photocopies, keeps records, files, orders supplies, reference, and educational materials.
- Administers the expedited services, independent medical exams, functional capacity evaluations and out of province treatments.
- Arranges, coordinates, and keeps accurate records of expedited service, independent medical examination, functional capacity evaluation and out of province medical service referrals and appointments and provides updates to the Medical Advisor and divisional leaders noting any emerging trends.
- Administers the interjurisdictional and third party claims.
- Corresponds with other jurisdictions in the management of interjurisdictional claims.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have successful completion of a recognized post-secondary program in Business/Office Administration or a related discipline. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in an office environment engaged in frontline service delivery is required.
Administrative experience in a medical setting, knowledge of medical terminology and experience using Microsoft Office Suite, internet and email would be considered an asset.
Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered and must be articulated in the application process.
Bilingual in both French and English would be considered an asset.
A satisfactory criminal records check is required for this position.
Preference will be given to internal candidates.
