About the Role
The PEI Military Family Resource Centre (PEI MFRC) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic post-secondary student currently enrolled in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related program, who will be returning to their studies in the fall. This position plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day administrative operations of the MFRC while also contributing to our marketing and communications efforts to promote programs and services to military families across Prince Edward Island.
The successful candidate will assist with social media management and content creation, support the planning and promotion of MFRC events, and provide front-line reception and administrative support. This is an excellent opportunity for a student who is organized, creative, and eager to gain practical experience in non-profit administration and community-based marketing.ย Preference will be given to individuals from Military/RCMP families.
Administration & Reception
- Provide front-line reception support, including greeting clients, answering and directing phone calls, and responding to general inquiries in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Assist with scheduling, filing, data entry, database maintenance, and general office correspondence.
- Support MFRC staff with administrative tasks including document preparation, minute-taking, and record keeping.
- Help maintain organized and up-to-date program files, contact lists, and resource materials.
- Provide backup reception coverage and general office support as needed.
Social Media & Digital Marketing
- Create and schedule engaging, relevant content for MFRC social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and others) that resonates with military families and community partners.
- Monitor social media channels and respond to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner, in alignment with MFRC brand guidelines.
- Assist in drafting e-newsletters, e-blasts, and other digital communications for distribution to program participants and stakeholders.
- Design or source promotional graphics and visuals using tools such as Canva or similar platforms.
- Track and report on basic social media metrics and engagement to support ongoing communications planning.
- Research best practices and emerging trends to help grow and strengthen the MFRCโs online presence.
Event Coordination & Promotion
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and promotion of MFRC events, programs, and community activities throughout the summer.
- Help create and distribute promotional materials (flyers, posters, digital graphics, signage) for upcoming events and initiatives.
- Support event logistics including registration, supply coordination, volunteer support, and day-of setup and takedown.
- Assist with post-event follow-up activities such as participant surveys, feedback collection, and summary reporting.
- Represent the PEI MFRC positively at events and community outreach activities.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related program, and returning to studies in the fall.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and approachable manner.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) and an understanding of effective digital communication.
- Basic proficiency with graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, or similar.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and a positive, customer-oriented attitude.
- Valid driverโs license and access to a reliable vehicle (travel within PEI required).
Assets
- Previous experience in an administrative or customer service role.
- Experience with photography, videography, or multimedia content creation.
- Knowledge of and/or connection to the Canadian military community.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
