Job Description:

Position Synopsis

As part of a marketing team, the Marketing Writer will be responsible for the development and drafting of text for various marketing and commercial projects. The incumbent will be responsible for producing material for brochures, proposals, press releases, online web pages, social media, newsletters and a variety of other marketing and internal content. This will also include editing and proofreading written material and collaborating in the development of sales tools such as data sheets, case studies, white papers, and sales presentations.

The incumbent will ensure accuracy, consistency of style and high quality across all projects and collaborate with the technical team to understand engineering details and AKA products and services.

This position will also provide writing support to the Director of Business Development, CEO and others as needed.

Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for drafting clear, concise, and easily understood text for various marketing and commercial projects.
  • Specialized in producing brochures, invitations, press releases, (technical manuals), online web pages and a variety of other marketing content.
  • Editing and proofreading other written text.
  • Develop sales tools such as data sheets, case studies, white papers and sales presentations.
  • Write internal and customer newsletter content, surveys, webinar scripts, corporate brochures and training manuals.
  • Works with engineering team to understand new products and features to develop text drafts.
  • Collaborate with marketing team on ideas and content for content calendar.
  • Weekly update editing.
  • Researching writing styles and their perception.
  • Maintaining and updating existing written marketing material.
  • Ensuring accuracy, quality, clarity, and consistency by coordinating technical and editorial reviews and implementing required changes.
  • Liaising with, and integrating feedback from, other team members, developers, clients and the engineering group.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with subject matter experts.

Position Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Business, Engineering, Journalism, Education or a related field, or a combination of education and experience suitable to the position. Current students in these fields may also be considered depending on availability.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing technical content.
  • Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop accurate and comprehensible technical documentation.
  • Active interest in writing content in general.
  • Active interest in technology and innovation, and specifically the energy field.
  • Proven ability to review material/information consistently and thoroughly, ensuring high standards of accuracy and completeness, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written communication skills with proficiency in grammar, spelling and simple language use.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and customer relation skills.
  • Proven analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Flexible, adaptable and able to work effectively in a constantly changing environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient at the advanced level in the use of MS Office Products, including Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook.
  • Considerable knowledge of marine, petroleum industry, land-based energy and control systems technology, or another relevant technical field.
  • Considerable knowledge of social media platforms and web content development.
  • Able to collaborate in a partially remote team.
