Working within Long Term Care in an interdisciplinary, team orientated, collaborative practice environment, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the day-to-day management of the nursing unit. The RN supervises and collaborates with Resident Care Workers (RCWs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and other health professionals, and where resident care is beyond the scope of the LPNs role, the RN direct the LPN and/or assumes direct care provision for the resident’s required care. The primary purpose of this nursing position is to supervise and manage the provision of current best practice, high quality, holistic, person centered, and family focused nursing care delivery. Using the Nursing Process, the RN provides skilled and competent nursing services according to their scope of practice, the Nursing Code of Ethics, and the policies and procedures of the provincial Long Term Care Services and the facility’s Nursing Department.
