FULL-TIME TEMPORARY POSITION

This is an in-office position

(beginning immediately for approximately 2 years)

The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) helps to build safe and healthy workplaces in PEI and provides benefits and services to reduce the impact of work-related injuries and illnesses.

The Cybersecurity Analyst will support the maintenance and ongoing monitoring of the Workers Compensation Board’s Cybersecurity Program. This role will contribute to cybersecurity activities associated with the Business Transformation Initiative (BTI) and related projects, while helping protect WCBPEI’s organizational data, systems, and assets from cyber threats. Responsibilities include supporting cybersecurity governance, implementing and monitoring defensive security systems, and conducting architecture and risk assessments. The position will also help strengthen the organization’s cybersecurity culture by promoting awareness through employee training, education, and engagement initiatives.

The Cybersecurity Analyst reports to the Chief Information Officer. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the Cybersecurity Specialist with the development, implementation and maintenance of an organization-wide Information Security Management System (ISMS) and Cybersecurity Program tailored to the WCB to support both regular operations and BTI activities.
  • Ensuring continuous improvement of organization’s cybersecurity posture by evaluating organizational cybersecurity risks to determine ISMS compliance status and areas for improvement.
  • Assisting with monitoring network and systems usage for unauthorized access, and monitoring for cybersecurity threats.
  • Support and maintain the Cybersecurity Awareness Training program that provides security awareness for all levels of the organization.
  • Participating in periodic IT audit activities and supporting remediation activities.
  • Reviewing and recommending improvements to the Business Continuity Plan as it relates to IT.
  • Contributing to the development of an effective Innovation and Technology and BTI team by participating in the implementation of operational plan objectives.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a post-secondary degree in Computer Science or College Diploma.  Preference will be given to candidates with a degree and/or diploma in the field of Information Technology supplemented by additional course work in cybersecurity. Considerable experience (3-5 years) applying cybersecurity principles is required. The successful candidate will have experience managing networks and providing hands-on support for the security of databases, file servers, web servers, and application servers within a networked environment. They will also demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Working knowledge of NIST, COBIT, and ISO 27001 standards and best practices are desirable. Project management experience and possessing Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+ certification would be considered assets.

Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered and must be articulated in the application process.

Bilingual in both French and English would be considered an asset
