Carpenter

Employer: Vanguard Construction Inc.

Vanguard Construction Inc. is seeking a full-time Carpenter to join our growing construction team. The successful candidate will work on residential and commercial construction projects in Prince Edward Island.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
  • Measure, cut, shape and assemble wood and other building materials.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Install doors, windows, stairs, trim, siding, and other structural and finishing components.
  • Perform renovation, repair and maintenance work as required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with building codes and company quality standards.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work site and follow all health and safety regulations.
  • Work effectively with supervisors and other trades to complete projects on schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a carpenter in residential or commercial construction.
  • Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Knowledge of carpentry techniques, building materials and construction methods.
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy materials.
  • Reliable, dependable and able to work as part of a team.
