REACH Foundation is Hiring a Bike Repair Shop Coach

REACH Foundation is looking for individuals with experience in bike repair and a passion to train others to join our team. This full-time position will oversee our ReCycle Bike program and help support youth in recovery for mental health challenges, including addictions. The position will work directly with the Social Enterprise Manager and program team to provide hands on training and learning experiences to participants.

Our programs provide youth with skills training, education, counselling, and hands-on experience in our social enterprises to build confidence and empower youth to reach their recovery goals.

About the Position

The Bike Repair Shop Coach will work under the direction of the Social Enterprise Manager to operate REACH’s social enterprise bike repair shop and the ReCycle bike program. The Shop Coach works with program participants to repair and distribute used bikes in our community. The Coach oversees the operation of the shop and all instruction to youth working with REACH in the shop. To be successful in this role, you will need considerable experience in fixing bikes, a passion for teaching others, an empathetic understanding of mental health and addictions, be a dedicated team player, and be willing to go the extra mile to empower participants to achieve their goals.

Primary responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the operations of the bike repair shop.
  • Develop all repair plans and instructional delivery.
  • Oversee the inventory of bikes and handle community donations.
  • Oversee all bike sales and donations through the ReCycle Bike program.
  • Maintain safe working order of the shop and all its equipment.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment for individuals seeking assistance.
  • Assist participants in identifying and achieving their personal goals.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement support plans.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of participants.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years experience in bike repair and maintenance.
  • Experience working with youth in a group setting an asset.
  • Training or experience in supporting others with mental health challenges is considered an asset.
  • Lived experience with mental health and/or addictions is considered an asset.

This full-time position will begin immediately at our Charlottetown facility. The position has a salary range of $19-21 per hour plus benefits for 37.5 hours per week.
