Nestled along the picturesque Fortune River, The Inn at Bay Fortune is home to a bountiful culinary farm producing a wide variety of flowers and vegetables using regenerative agricultural methods that help preserve and enhance our rich, fertile soil. The spoils from our farm are prepared and plated by our extraordinary band of chefs, who serve 68 guests nightly during our five-star culinary experience called the FireWorks Feast, which runs from May to November every year. Our Farm Hands play the vital role of tending to those fruits and vegetables (and a few chickens and pigs, too!) throughout the summer. Chastity has lovingly reimagined and redesigned every room and corner of the property to create a true sense of place, and together with Chef Michael, one of Canada’s most beloved TV chefs, author and PEI’s food ambassador, they’ve transformed this historic Inn into a destination where food, design, and Island culture come together in every detail.

• Two passes annually to The Fireworks Feast for you and a guest

What to expect?

• You will report to the Head Farmer and Farm Hand Leads
• The position is Full-Time Seasonal, working 8 to 9 hours per day with paid breaks included, 5 days out of 7 per week through to October, possibility of extending to early November,  subject to demand and your availability
• On-the-job training will be provided

What you’ll do?

• Provide direct support to the Head Farmer and Farm Hand Leads to ensure tasks are completed as scheduled
• Prepare fields and garden beds for planting by tilling soil, planting seeds and seedlings
• Weed, transplant, thin, and prune crops
• Cultivate and harvest crops
• Feed and inspect chickens and pigs; collect chicken eggs; clean animal living areas
• Clean racks, trays, and harvest bins
• Assist with general farm maintenance and maintenance of equipment and tools

What you’ll bring?

• Great work ethic and positive attitude
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and crouch repeatedly for long periods, and lift heavy objects
• Ability to work outdoors in the summer heat

What would set you apart?

• Previous experience working on a farm or in a greenhouse
• Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner
• You are punctual, efficient, and demonstrate an eagerness to learn and improve
• Can follow a checklist, take direction from supervisors, and collaborate with others
• Self-motivated and can work independently to accomplish tasks on-time
• Comfortable performing repetitive tasks such as weeding crops
