What You’ll Do
A Solar Installer you’ll be responsible for installing solar panel systems. This role involves travel as it is project based and requires you to work in a variety of outdoor work environments to complete each project.
Under the supervision of the Construction Manager, the duties and responsibilities of a Solar Installer include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Works with a team to install solar panel systems, including roof and ground mounted systems for homes and commercial projects;
- Follows specific techniques to install systems;
- Maintains supplies by unloading materials from the trailer at the client’s work site, securing them in a safe area, using the materials appropriately and loading them back into the trailer at the end of the job;
- Lifts and carries materials and equipment throughout work areas;
- Adheres to all Corporation policies and procedures, paying special attention to health and safety procedures and wearing required personal protective equipment; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Criminal record check is required;
- Safety boots are required (provided by the employee);
- Reliable transportation;
- Ability to work at heights on rooftops safely;
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools;
- Ability to follow instructions and follow all safety protocols;
- Experience with roofing and construction sites preferred;
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
- Excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude;
- Certified CPR and First Aid are an asset; and
- A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract is an asset.
Working Conditions
- Flexible schedule, designated start time but no assigned end time as lengths of days vary by location and project;
- Able to work in an open, outdoor work environment for extended periods of time, exposed to all weather conditions;
- Ability to work at heights, on a roof, using ladders;
- Required to work in a busy, open area which may result in constant interruptions;
- Required to spend long hours concentrating which will require attention to detail and high levels of accuracy;
- Required to meet a number of deadlines;
- Ability to lift 50 lbs + repeatedly;
- Walk and stand on a variety of surfaces; and
- Ability to work overtime with little notice.
