Job Description:

Professional & Educational Requirements:

  • Education:  prefer a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or Digital Media. Specialized certifications in social media management can also boost a resume.
  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience managing professional accounts or completing relevant internships.
  • Portfolio: A “live portfolio” showing successful content you have created or personal social media growth is frequently required to demonstrate your aesthetic and engagement skills.

Core Technical Skills:

  • Content Creation: Ability to produce original video (Reels/TikToks), photography, and high-quality graphics.
  • Copywriting: Drafting engaging, platform-specific captions with a keen eye for grammar and the brand’s unique “voice”.
  • Platform Expertise: In-depth knowledge of current algorithms, trending sounds, and features (e.g., Instagram Carousels, LinkedIn Thought Leadership).
  • Analytics: Basic proficiency in tracking metrics like engagement rate, reach, and follower growth to report on campaign success.  Indeed +5

Required Tool Proficiency:

Modern assistants are expected to be comfortable with several categories of software:

  • Management & Scheduling: Tools like Buffer (best for small teams), Hootsuite (all-in-one for larger businesses), or Sprout Social.
  • Design & Video: Canva for graphics, CapCut or Adobe Express for video editing, and OpusClip for repurposing long-form content.
  • AI Productivity: Use of AI assistants for caption generation, hashtag research, and sentiment analysis (e.g., Jasper AI or Flick).  Buffer +3

Essential Soft Skills:

  • Adaptability: The ability to quickly pivot strategies when platform algorithms or global trends change.
  • Community Empathy: Beyond just replying to comments, understanding customer “subtext” and responding in a way that builds trust.
