Assistant Stage Manager: The River Clyde Pageant 2026

TERM: 6 Week Contract from June 30th – August 6th 2026
LOCATION: New Glasgow PE
HOURS AND FEE:  Flat fee of $3000 for approx. 25 hrs/week, with possibility to expand the position if additional funding is available.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
River Clyde Arts is a non-profit organization that unites local creators, volunteers & professional artists across cultures & creative practices in the making of ambitious, awe-inspiring outdoor theatre and seasonal events. Our central project is our summer production of the River Clyde Pageant (RCP), created and performed in New Glasgow, PEI since 2016. Other annual projects include Sharing the Field (STF), a weekend celebration of art, food and community during the fall harvest, and the River Clyde Solstice Walk (SW), an outdoor lantern walk celebrating the winter solstice.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Assistant Stage Manager works closely with the Stage Manager, Technical Director, and Pageant Producers to support the delivery and execution of the River Clyde Pageant. They will report to the Stage Manager and Producers, and will collaborate with the production team to present eight performances of this community-engaged outdoor theatre production. The ideal candidate is highly organized, with strong communication and leadership skills, and is excellent at solving problems quickly and creatively. Must be comfortable working outdoors and as part of a team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Attending all production meetings and rehearsals and assisting with production needs as they arise
  • Assisting the Stage Manager with scheduling and communications
  • Supporting the technical demands of the production, including tracking and maintaining props and costumes, calling cues, coordinating performers and volunteers, and ensuring safety protocols are followed
  • Collaborating with the Pageant creative team during production week
  • Assistant stage managing eight performances of the River Clyde Pageant
  • Assisting the creative team with striking the show in the week following closing night

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Highly organized and self-motivated
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong interest in the arts and theatre
  • Comfortable in a leadership role
  • Previous experience in theatre or film production is an asset but not a requirement
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; proficient with email, Google Docs, and Google Drive
  • Access to a vehicle or reliable transportation

This position is for candidates based in Prince Edward Island. Irregular working hours will be required, including work on evenings and weekends.

  • Saturday, July 18: 9:00-11:30 am; 4:00-9:00 pm – Stumble-Through Rehearsal
  • Sunday, July 19: 5:00-8:00 pm Full Run-Through
  • Tuesday, July 21: 6:00-9:00 pm Full Run-Through
  • Wednesday, July 22: 6:00-9:00 pm – Rain Date Rehearsal

Performance dates:

  • Thursday, July 23 – Sunday July 26: 6:00-9:30 pm Shows 1-4
  • Thursday, July 30 – Sunday Aug 2: 6:00-9:30 pm Shows 5-8

Post-Pageant Tear-Down:

August 4 – 6, 10am-4pm (approximately)
