The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager, the Manager of Finance will actively participate as an integral member of the Red Shores Executive Team and will play a key role in the ongoing success of its operations. The Manager of Finance is responsible for leading the Finance and Audit teams – ensuring operational excellence, growth, and employee development.
As a finance leader, the Manager of Finance will provide key insights into business development and strategy. This leader will define, monitor, and report on KPIs to drive employee engagement, guest experience, sales, and return to shareholder. The Manager of Finance will lead the Senior Management team through annual business planning including budget/forecast, workforce planning, capital investment, and strategic initiatives.
This leader will liaise with Atlantic Lottery and key stakeholders to ensure alignment with corporate strategy, deadlines, reporting requirements, and compliance with PEI Lotteries Commission and other applicable federal and provincial laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership – Direct leader for finance and audit teams. Inspire others by communicating a compelling vision. Set expectations and hold individuals or teams accountable. Always act with integrity and communicate transparently. Promotes a culture of continuous improvement. Set clear expectations and goals.
- Strategy – Working closely with the General Manager and Executive team, they will help develop the long-term strategy for Red Shores to ensure the continued success of the business. This leader will make recommendations for allocation of financial and human resources to support the greatest opportunities. Review the vision and mission annually and set strategic team goals.
- Business Development – Analyze opportunities to expand product offering, grow player base, increase known play, and gross gaming revenue. Conduct complex and detailed analysis on all Red Shores business cases to identify the opportunity, risks, and determine ROI, NPV and payback period. Make recommendations for strategic investments based on business case analysis.
- Business Planning – Lead Red Shores Senior Management team through annual business planning cycle including operating budgets, forecasts, work force planning, capital plans, and strategic initiatives. Develop departmental plan with direct report teams to support the overall business plan.
- Operational Excellence – Review financial statements and key performance metrics and make recommendations for improvement. Benchmark against industry standards and set targets. Regularly revisit and reset targets for continuous improvement. Automate processes eliminate redundancy and waste and create efficiencies.
- Policy – Develop and implement policy to safeguard Red Shores assets and manage risk. Ensure compliance with all Atlantic Lottery corporate policy and procedures, PEI Lotteries Commission, and other applicable provincial and federal laws and regulations. Responsible for Red Shores Internal Control Manual and FINTRAC Compliance Regime. Review annually, lead audits, and make recommendations for improvement.
- Reporting – Lead Red Shores month end close to meet all corporate reporting calendar deadlines. Approve all Red Shores journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Approve monthly financial statements and report on any variances. Create ad hoc reports as required to analyze promotions, events, and opportunities.
- Stakeholder Relations – liaise with Atlantic Lottery to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and act as a voice for Red Shores addressing any issues or concerns. Maintain strong relations with community partners, industry associations, and vendors. Act as a steward representing Red Shores in the community.
Experience & Qualifications:
- CPA designation with a minimum of 5-7 years of senior leadership experience.
- Hospitality experience preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, communication, financial management, and guest experience.
