Want a summer job that mixes tech, creativity, and real-world experiences across PEI? This role is a unique blend of data + social media + community events—perfect if you like variety and want to build practical skills.

Recreation PEI is hiring a Youth Information Officer to help grow recreation opportunities across the province.

What You’ll Be Doing
This role is about 50% data-focused and 50% community + content work:

Data & Tech

  • Contribute to a growing national recreation infrastructure database
  • Manage and organize large data uploads
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of information (details matter!)
  • Support data collection through outreach (including by phone and email)

Community, Events & Content

  • Travel across PEI to attend community events and programs
  • Capture photo and video content for social media
  • Promote recreation programs and opportunities
  • Represent go!PEI—including appearances as our mascot Trax
  • Participate in activities and experience recreation firsthand

What We’re Looking For
We’ll provide training and mentorship—you just need the right mindset:

  • Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and details
  • Strong communication skills and confidence on camera
  • Interest in social media and content creation
  • Organized, reliable, and able to manage your time
  • Energetic, outgoing, and positive
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Bonus: Experience with video editing or content creation tools and Excel

Job Requirements

  • Willing to be on camera for social media
  • Able to travel across PEI (with staff support)
  • Comfortable participating in physical activities
  • Flexible schedule (some evenings/weekends)

The Details
Duration: 8 weeks (35 hours/week)
Pay: $18/hour
Location: Charlottetown-based, with travel across PEI
Schedule: Mix of office, remote work, and events

Recreation PEI is provincial non-profit organization that promotes, coordinates and encourages all facets of recreation, physical activity and facility management on Prince Edward Island.
