PEI Mutual Insurance Company is seeking an exceptional executive leader to join our executive team as Chief Operating Officer (COO).
This newly created executive position represents a unique opportunity to help shape the future of one of Prince Edward Island’s most respected organizations. Working closely with the CEO, CFO, and Leadership Team, the COO will play a critical role in leading organizational performance, developing leaders, and executing PEI Mutual’s ambitious strategic vision.

What youโll do:
Reporting to the CEO, as a key member of the executive team, you will help shape organizational direction while ensuring the successful execution of PEI Mutual’s strategic priorities.
- Lead execution of the Strategic Plan by translating organizational priorities into operational action
- Facilitate and coordinate Leadership Team meetings to ensure alignment, accountability, and effective execution of organizational priorities.
- Provide executive leadership and direction to operational departments while fostering collaboration and accountability
- Lead organizational performance through continuous improvement, operational excellence, and service delivery enhancements
- Develop and coach leaders while building organizational capability and succession strength
- Establish performance measures, monitor organizational results, and drive informed decision-making
- Provide executive oversight of assigned operational functions, ensuring resources, priorities, and service delivery remain aligned with organizational objectives
- Lead organizational modernization through technology, innovation, and improved business processes
- Partner with the CEO, CFO, and Leadership Team to support strategic planning and enterprise decision-making
- Champion a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Lead cross-functional initiatives, enterprise projects, and operational risk management
- Support additional strategic initiatives and responsibilities as assigned
About you:
You are an accomplished executive leader with a proven ability to build high-performing teams, lead organizational change, and deliver results through others. You are collaborative, strategic, and people-focused, with the judgment, leadership presence, and business acumen to help guide a complex organization through its next stage of growth.
You will also bring:
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience, including at least 5 years leading managers or senior leaders.
- Demonstrated success leading organizational transformation, strategic plan implementation, and operational excellence.
- Experience leading organizations or business units through significant change and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven ability to build, coach, and develop high-performing leadership teams.
Strong business and financial acumen, with exceptional strategic thinking, operational planning, and execution capabilities. - Exceptional communication, relationship-building, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
University degree in Business, Leadership, Commerce, Public Administration, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and executive leadership experience will also be considered. - Advanced leadership, business, or professional designations (e.g. MBA, CPHR, ICD.D, PMP, Lean, CIP, etc.) are considered assets.

Salary Range: $175,000โ$225,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and demonstrated leadership capability.
