We take pride in supporting our agricultural community and are currently looking for a dependable and hardworking individual to join our maintenance team.

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and physically fit individual to assist with maintenance and repairs to our fleet of fertilizer delivery trucks, fertilizer spreaders, Rogators, tractor trailers, and machinery in the fertilizer plant. The position is full-time with extended hours and weekends required during peak spring season and vessel unloading periods.

As a Maintenance Mechanic at PEI Agromart, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles and equipment. Your duties will include performing routine inspections, identifying mechanical issues, and implementing effective solutions to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our fleet. Additionally, you will collaborate with other team members to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while adhering to all safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with Agromart’s fleet of tender trucks, tractor trailers, spreaders, rogators, pickup trucks, plant and fertilizer handling equipment, and other equipment on or off site.
  2. Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and inspections to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
  3. Perform repairs and replacements of defective parts/components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
  4. Utilize technical manuals, diagrams, and electronic diagnostic tools to accurately identify and resolve mechanical problems.
  5. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements while performing maintenance and repair activities to minimize risks to personnel and equipment.
  6. Provide guidance to less experienced mechanics or equipment operators to enhance their technical skills and promote a culture of safety and excellence.
  7. Stay updated on advancements in technology, equipment innovations, and industry best practices to continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness in equipment maintenance and repair processes.
  8. Support seasonal demands and occasional overtime requirements during peak periods such as spring busy season and during fertilizer boat season.

Qualifications

  • Must have a reliable vehicle to travel to and from work
  • Physically able to lift 50lbs and work in dusty conditions
  • Basic mechanical skills and comfort using hand tools
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow direction’
  • Comfort working independently at times
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Assets (Preferred but Not Required)

  • Class 1 or 3 driver’s license
  • Experience in agriculture or crop input industry
  • Experience in mechanical environment
