LungNSPEI (formerly known as the Lung Association of PEI) is a charitable health organization dedicated to improving quality of life by preventing and managing lung disease through advocacy, patient services, educations and research for Islanders and Nova Scotians. Support from donors and partners allows LungNSPEI to deliver impactful, comprehensive programs for the 1 in 5 Islanders and Nova Scotians living with lung disease. LungNSPEI is also leading the way in prevention, advancing initiatives that address critical issues such as radon exposure, air quality, vaping, and smoking cessation.

About the Role: 

Are you passionate about health promotion and making a difference for Islanders?

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student to join our PEI team as our Summer Program Assistant. This role offers hands-on experience in health promotion, programming, and communications to support the planning and delivery of lung health services and initiatives on PEI.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide support and coordination for a range of lung health programs and initiatives, including vaping prevention and tobacco cessation programming
  • Engage with patients, community partners, and healthcare providers to raise awareness and recruit Islanders to participate in available programs and services
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of both in-person and virtual signature events, including COPD Education Day, Links Fore Lungs Golf Tournament, PEI Tobacco Symposium, Youth Voices for Lung Health Council, and more
  • Connect and build relationships with local organizations, community groups, and businesses to increase awareness and support for lung health initiatives
  • Support communications efforts by assisting with the development of social media content and promotional materials
  • Contribute to program logistics, including scheduling, participant coordination, and general administrative support
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure programs and events are delivered effectively and meet community needs
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education and returning to full-time studies in Fall 2026
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable interacting with the public and engaging with diverse audiences
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an office environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use computer applications, including email, Microsoft Office Suite, and Canva

Assets: 

  • Studies in a health-related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • Previous experience in a non-profit and/or health promotion setting
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
  • Knowledge of lung health issues, including asthma, COPD, lung cancer, tobacco cessation, or chronic disease
  • Bilingual in French and English
