Accounting Clerk
Full-Time Position with Salary Range starting at $23.14 per hour, 37.5 hours per week**

Whatโs the Job?
Playing a key role within our administration team, the Accounting Clerk will be responsible for accurately calculating, preparing, and processing Accounts Payable/Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger transactions. This role also involves supporting budget monitoring, report preparation, and maintaining financial records under the supervision of the Director of Finance and Administration.
Responsibilities:
- Performing daily accounting functions such as
- posting accounts payable purchase and payment transactions,
- posting accounts receivable sale and receipt transactions,
- as well as posting and recording general journal entries
- Processing of bi-weekly payroll, RRSP and Benefits related transactions, remittances, and filings.
- Preparing bank deposits and petty cash replenishments
- Performing monthly account reconciliations for sub-ledger accounts including
- Accounts Payable,
- Accounts Receivable,
- Clearing Accounts,
- Bank,
- Credit Card,
- Petty Cash,
- and all Payroll related accounts.
- Maintaining employee records; including creating, updating, and modifying personal and payroll related information
- Maintaining financial database records, including creating, updating, and modifying customers, vendors, departments, and funders
- Ensuring all financial documentation is properly filed and scanned in a timely manner.
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly internal/external financial/programming reports and proposals
- Additional administrative reporting, proposals, and research tasks will be delegated as required and applicable.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries relating to payroll, accounting, and program reporting related matters in a professional and timely manner.
- Performing other accounting and administrative related duties as required
What Skills or Qualifications will help me succeed?
We require that you have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration/Management, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience to be considered for this opportunity.
The following list of skills would also be considered assets:
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
- Familiarity with accounting and reporting in the not-for-profit sector.
- Strong attention to detail, with a proven ability to carefully review and verify information for accuracy.
- Proficient in MS Office and spreadsheet applications, with working knowledge of accounting software; prior experience with Sage 50 would be considered an advantage.
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills and willing to take initiative, capable of prioritizing and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
- Previous experience working with immigrant or refugee populations would be considered an asset.
