Community Support Work (Bakery Program)

Harbourview Training Center located in Souris PE, is a community-focused organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities through personalized day programs, life skills development and community engagement. We’re seeking a dedicated team member for our bakery program who can support clients in a meaningful, hands-on environment. The ideal candidate will help create a positive, structured day program experience while fostering skill development and confidence in the kitchen.

Education:

• Successful completion of a recognized Human Services, Youth Worker, RCW or LPN program and/or university degree in a related field.

Experience:

•  Previous experience in the field is considered an asset

In addition to the qualifications listed, we’re looking for someone with a warm, patient approach, a passion for teaching, and an interest in baking or food preparation. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working creatively with clients, encouraging independence, and being part of a supportive work team.

Daily Responsibilities:

• Actively support onsite programming while continuously striving to increase community inclusion and participation
• Actively assists with client community placements/involvement and provides follow up coordination, monitoring and support. This could include transportation, job coaching, client scheduling, billings, etc .
• Keeps written records
• Professionally represents the Centers’  best interests to the public
• Prepares various written reports as requested
• Supervises clients in work environment and day activities
• Performs all duties that are required to maintain Program operations
• Actively participates in the planning and implementation of daily work/skills /training activities for each client
• Works with individual clients to establish short and long term goals
• Actively assists with planning and developing new initiatives for the clients and center.
• Demonstrates a positive work ethic.
• Other Duties as required

Requirements:

• A current First Aid and CPR certificate is required or must be completed within the first three months of employment.
• Current Food Safety Certificate considered an asset.
• Presentation of a current criminal record check, including the Vulnerability Sector check, is required.
