Job Description:
The Residential Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers. The driver will collect solid waste or recyclables on curbside and/or backdoor routes and transporting to post-collection facilities
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate side loader or recycling trucks and related equipment.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete required reports.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Identify and handle prohibited or hazardous waste in accordance with company procedures.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate service records and communicate effectively with supervisors.
- Support route optimization and assist with overtime as needed.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- License: Valid Class 3 driver’s license
- Experience: Minimum one year of commercial driving experience or completion of a recognized CDL training program
- Physical Ability: Must meet physical demands of the position, including lifting up to 50 lbs and maneuvering in tight spaces
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to safely operate collection equipment and recognize disposal issues
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Working knowledge of vehicle safety and maintenance procedures
- Ability to perform manual labor and operate in varying environments
Physical and Mental Demands
- Regular walking, climbing, kneeling, and lifting
- Ability to maintain focus and awareness while driving in high-traffic areas
- Work effectively in a noisy, fast-paced setting
Working Conditions
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
- Frequent exposure to noise, odors, and moving vehicles
- Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions with proper protective equipment provided
