FitzGerald and Snow (2010) Ltd. is a leader in the construction industry on Prince Edward Island and we are looking for the right individual to strengthen our project management team at our Charlottetown office.
Position Overview
The Project Coordinator supports our Project Managers and Site Superintendents with the day-to-day coordination of active construction projects, and is cross-trained to provide light estimating support – including quantity takeoffs and pricing for change orders and smaller jobs – helping fill scheduling and estimating gaps as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications
- Support the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions for construction projects
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules using MS Project to track milestones, progress, and contractual deadlines
- Administer project documentation, including RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, change orders, progress claims, and closeout documents
- Support procurement activities through subcontractor tendering, bid solicitation, bid analysis, and award recommendations
- Coordinate material procurement, delivery schedules, and site logistics to ensure efficient project execution
- Issue purchase orders and process monthly progress billings, invoices, and supporting documentation
- Prepare and distribute meeting minutes, project correspondence, and other project records
- Manage and distribute construction drawings and project documents for site operations
- Participate in meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to coordinate work and resolve project issues
- Assist with project administration, scheduling, cost control, and coordination throughout all phases of the project lifecycle
- Project close-out documentation, as-builts and manuals
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in construction, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1-3 years’ experience in a construction coordination, administration, or project support role
- Experience with quantity takeoffs and light cost estimating an asset
- Proficiency with MS Project and Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook; experience with Jonas Accounting Software an asset
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Valid driver’s license (occasional site visits required)
Compensation & Schedule
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $50,000-$65,000 yearly, scaled to experience and scope of duties (including estimating support)
Schedule: 8-hour shift, 40 hrs/week, Monday to Friday
