Job Description:

MUSEUM โ€‹SITE CO-ORDINATOR – Farmersโ€™ Bank of Rustico Museum & Doucet House

DURATION:โ€‹ Seasonal Fulltime, beginning June 1, 2026 WAGE:โ€‹$25 per hour plus benefits. As a condition of funding, the candidate must be thirty or older.

REPORTS TO:โ€‹ย Friends of the Farmersโ€™ Bank of Rustico Inc. Board of Directors, rusticofarmersbank@gmail.com DUTIES: Under the direction of the board, the site coordinator is responsible for the day to day operations of a significant heritage site.

1. Day-to-day management of the site. Report problems related to personnel, IT, retail outlet and facilities to designated director.

2. Train Staff and Volunteers. Adhere to human resources policies and regulations.

3. Serve as lead interpreter.

4. Network with other Acadian and Francophone, heritage, community and tourism organizations.

5. Oversee programs and special events that reflect the community and character of the Farmerโ€™s Bank and Doucet House.

6. Oversee experiential meals, motor coach tours and luncheons, and โ€œBannock and Butterโ€ snacks baked in a traditional clay oven.

7. Assess and monitor feedback regarding customer service and visitor experience. Provide recommendations on needed improvements.

8. Ensure safety of visitors and staff and security and cleanliness of site. Handle third-party facility rentals.

9. Day-to-day finances of the organization, working with the bookkeeper and treasurer.

10. Co-ordinate membership and volunteer drives.

11. Participate in the development of exhibits and programs, including seeking funding and overseeing multi-media presentations.

12. Oversee streamlining of collection documents, secure genealogy base, update exhibits and displays. Support educational opportunities.

EXPERIENCE:ย Successful candidate may have a degree in Museum Studies, History, or a related field and/or experience with many, but not necessarily all, of the following Job Knowledge, Skills and Demonstrated

Abilities:

1. Working knowledge of French & English.

2. Hiring and managing staff.

3. Background in Acadian and Prince Edward Island History.

4. Managing media and websites.

5. Marketing and creating promotional materials.

6. Planning and coordinating special events.

7. Up-to-date computer skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite, Word and Excel.

8. Effective written and oral communication skills.

9. Organizational skills and ability to plan ahead in order to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines without direct supervision.

10. Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, employees and other associated organization.

11. Handling and curating historical artefacts.

12. Creating museum displays and experiences.

13. Food service and food handling.

14. Experience working with museum/historic site collections (develop exhibits, maintain historic property, etc.)
