Job Title: Employment Counselor/Outreach Worker

Estimated Start Date: August 10th, 2026 – Three-month position to start, could lead to permanent.

Job Overview:

The Employment Counselor/Outreach Worker is a collaborative and experienced professional who will assist the Employment Services Manager and provide support to the employment vocational program.ย  The Employment Services Unit delivers a broad range of programs to clients,

As an organization, we are responsible for ensuring that the clientsโ€™ physical, emotional, social, vocational and health needs are being met. The position will assist in ensuring that the clients we serve are provided the opportunity to exercise their right to be as independent as possible and are empowered through supports provided by Community Inclusions Ltd.

This position assists in case plans, their implementation, helping to monitor their effectiveness, and providing support for employees, clients, and their families to ensure their success.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Reports to: Employment Services Manager, Community Inclusions Ltd.

Can work with:ย  HR Coordinator, Office Manager, Community Service Manager, Residential Coordinator, and other Agency staff as needed.

Liaises when needed with: Department of Social Development and Housing; AccessAbility Supports; other Agencies/services, Associate/Families of Clients; and the public, Skills PEI

Helps supervise: Community Support Workers; employment program clientele.

Education and Qualifications

  • ย Post secondary education in human services, social sciences field and/or several years of related experience.

Working Conditions

  • The Employment Counselor/Outreach Worker must possess high physical and emotional energy to handle the array of problems they address. They must also have a high degree of patience and have excellent listening and communication skills.
  • The Employment Counselor/Outreach Worker will usually work 37.5 hours per work week, he or she must be flexible, as there may be a need to work some evenings or other overtime.

Duties/Requirements

  • To help clients develop a better understanding of their unique characteristics and how those characteristics relate to career choices.
  • Help clients deal with barriers to achieving their employment/career goals.
  • Implement/facilitate career and employment-related programs, short-term training sessions.
  • Use knowledge of community resources to refer clients to services which address their needs.
  • Perform related administrative tasks such as keeping records and writing reports.
  • Use computers to write reports and research information on the Internet.
  • Advise employers or employment related issues.
  • Job Coaching as needed.
